Notice that the book's Table of Contents (shown above) walks the reader through a definition of "Historic Trees," then background descriptions of native trees around the towns for comparison, followed by the history and descriptions of the exploitation of both land and trees that created the landscape we see today.
The chapters go on to provide detailed descriptions and history of 30 imported shade trees (see photo above) - trivia about them and, finally, a request for stories from my readers about historic trees brought to Gold Rush towns. With this book the reader can walk a Gold Rush town and observe the changes that occurred over time.
